Art & Garden Center can keep amplified music, but it may face future limits

A popular Tiburon wedding venue has received approval to continue using amplified music for ceremonies this year, though future compromises may be implemented to address neighbors’ noise concerns.

With its 4-0 vote March 26, the Planning Commission stipulated that amplified music for all events at the Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks Society’s Art & Garden Center, at 841 Tiburon Blvd., must end by 8:30 p.m., remain below 60 decibels at the property line and be monitored to ensure compliance. Vice Chair Daniel Amir was absent.

Landmarks board Vice President Mark Freiberg said the wind-down time has already been happening since 2017, along with the commission’s other new requirements that guests leave by 9 p.m., vendors by 10 p.m. and vendor deliveries be limited to Fridays and Mondays.

Though commissioners said they don’t want to interfere with this year’s booked events, Landmarks must return for an informal check-in in June that could potentially limit their number and frequency beginning next year.
