At least 12 cars sacked or stolen in recent weeks

Tiburon police say five cars were stolen and at least seven others were ransacked for cash and other items between Aug. 30 and Sept. 13. All but one or two were left unlocked, and four of the stolen cars had the keys inside.

The incidents occurred in Tiburon’s Belveron and Reedlands neighborhoods and areas off Paradise Drive near Paradise Cay, according to police spokeswoman Laurie Nilsen. She said all the crimes are still under investigation and there are no suspects, but that residents should be cautious not to leave valuables, including keys, in their cars and to lock their doors.

“If we don’t make it easy for them, then they are not going to keep coming back,” she said.
