Belvedere City Council: Cooper set to join incumbents on council
Incumbents Sally Wilkinson and Peter Mark will retain their seats on the Belvedere City Council, to be joined by unofficial slate-mate and newcomer Jane Cooper. In a twist, voters appear to have backed the candidates that supported the city’s tax-and-charter ballot initiative while rejecting both the measure and the anti-establishment trio that campaigned against it.
Belvedere’s Nov. 8 ballot featured two council contests, one for a partial, two-year term and the other for two full four-year terms.
In the head-to-head race for the short-term seat, Wilkinson, this year’s mayor, is the top vote-getter across the two races, besting challenger Carolyn Lund. In a four-way race for the full terms, Mark and Cooper beat out challengers Brian Davis and Richard Snyder.
“Now is the time to come together and focus on continuing to build a better Belvedere for all of us,” Wilkinson said last week. “I’m delighted that Jane Cooper and Peter Mark will join me on the City Council to do just that.”
