Belvedere eyes fines for construction parking violations

Belvedere is considering fines for contractors who repeatedly violate parking limits during construction projects, with the hope that penalties might encourage compliance before a stop-work order is needed.

 

The City Council at its Aug. 12 meeting directed staff to look into allowing $100 administrative fines to be issued upon the second violation of a current rule that designates no more than three construction-related vehicles may be parked on city streets during a project.

 

Under city rules, any construction project that is subject to design review must establish a parking and staging plan before obtaining a building permit. The plan is supposed to denote where the three allowed vehicles will be parked, where materials will be stored and how equipment will be used on site.
