Belvedere makes progress on communication, survey says

Belvedere’s efforts to improve communication with its residents appear to be paying off, as a recent survey shows those living in the city are generally satisfied with the usefulness and timeliness of news and alerts and feel informed on key city issues. However, many have signaled they would still like easier access to information and improved communications about emergency preparedness.

City Councilmember Kevin Burke presented the results of a 15-question February communications survey to his colleagues at the council’s March 10 meeting, though he included a caveat — just 72 residents responded, or about 3.5% of Belvedere’s population.

While Burke, who created the survey, said he considers the results “statistically somewhat significant given the size of our community,” he noted the results should be taken as “more directional than really emphatic.”

Still, the city seems to be making progress in several key areas it identified as priorities after surveying residents on many of the same topics in 2023, with the latest results showing residents feel more informed on a variety of topics than they did a couple of years ago and overall find the communications from the city more relevant.
