Tiburon Peninsula teens William Franklin, Shaya Dodds and Bennett Adelman say their friendship is rooted in a common love of basketball, though each Del Mar Middle schooler brings a different approach to the court.

Bennett models his play mostly after Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Dončić, a five-time All-Star, the NBA’s top scorer in 2023-2024 and Rookie of the Year in 2018-2019.

“He shoots a lot of threes,” Bennett says while hanging out with William and Shaya outside Woodlands Market at The Boardwalk shopping center March 26. “He makes a lot of them. He moves in slow-motion. He plays his own pace.”

He also tries to add in a little bit of Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard James Harden, “because I’m a lefty” like he is.
