We’ve recently had some nice soaking rains to moisten the soil, making it a great time to plant some spring bloomers. Have a look around the garden and see if there’s anything that needs replacing or cutting back. My Cleveland sage (Salvia clevelandii) is very overgrown, so I’m going to cut it way back so it will push out some new, tidier growth.

I may plant a new lime tree or move the Australian finger lime (Citrus australasica) that’s yet to produce a single piece of fruit in the almost decade it’s been here. Maybe the shock of transplanting this thorny little tree will spur it to produce some of the finger-sized fruits full of caviar-like limey crystals, which are yummy in salads or topping anything improved by a squirt of lemon-lime deliciousness.
