Belvedere-Tiburon Library wins $72,400 grant for projects to meet sustainability goal

The Belvedere-Tiburon Library has been awarded a $72,400 grant to use toward its sustainability initiatives, which include equipping its meeting rooms with video teleconference capabilities, providing bike repair tools, hosting community recycling events and disaster-preparedness workshops and more. It’s all part of the library’s goal to achieve certification as a sustainable library by June 2026.

The funding from the California State Library’s Sustainable California Libraries grant program is the second in three years for the local library, which received a $30,000 grant in fiscal 2022-2023, money it used in part to launch its inaugural Green Week in May 2023, which included films, kids’ presentations from San Rafael animal hospital WildCare and talks from environmental experts and culminated in a Green Fair that included e-bike and trash-truck demonstrations, a book sale, plant swap and more.
