Two local teens are leading an effort to ensure all high-school students in Marin and the greater Bay Area can afford to look their best at their proms this spring.

Redwood High School juniors Morgan Sicklick and Madison Bishop of Tiburon have teamed with senior Charlotte Lacy to help organize this year’s “Prom Boutique” at The Village at Corte Madera. The shop, located near Macy’s at the mall, opened last weekend with help from Redwood student volunteers and will operate over the next three weekends in March, staffed by volunteers from San Rafael, Tamalpais and San Marin high schools. There will be more than 1,000 pieces of new or slightly used high-end formal wear, mostly dresses but also some menswear and accessories, available for free.

“We know prom is super expensive,” Morgan says. “We want the Prom Boutique to be a place where anybody can come and get a prom dress, no matter your socio-economic status.”
