New murals from Bay Area artists decorate Strawberry Village

Writer: Naomi FriedlandNaomi Friedland

Visitors to the Strawberry Village shopping center will see new splashes of color throughout the outdoor mall in the form of three murals painted by Bay Area artists.

The tunnel between D&O Salon and the Shade Store now sports a color gradient mural by Emeryville’s Erin Fong; Nora Bruhn of San Francisco painted a floral mural facing the parking lot on Belvedere Drive, around the corner from Berkshire Hathaway; and Nicole Mueller, also of San Francisco, created a more abstract pastel mural in an alleyway across from Rims & Goggles and the West Elm storage space.

The murals are a collaboration between shopping center owners Edens and Oakland-based ABG Art Group, which hired the artists. It’s part of a larger ongoing effort by Edens to revamp the outdoor mall, including fresh paint, new lighting and a communal outdoor greenspace.
