New plans add fifth story, more units to senior-care facility in Strawberry

The final application for a residential-care facility at North Knoll Road and Thomas Drive in Strawberry, to become 70 N. Knoll Road, has added a fifth story and now includes 120 total units — 49 memory-care rooms plus 71 assisted-living units. (Trachtenberg Architects)

A developer has officially submitted plans to build a five-story, 120-unit residential-care center on a vacant site above Tiburon Boulevard in Strawberry, tacking an additional level and 10 more rooms onto the building from the preliminary proposal submitted last year.

Larkspur-based Spirit Living Group, which develops and operates senior housing communities throughout the Bay Area, intends to build the 121,958-square-foot center at the base of a hill on 3.1 acres of the 6.6-acre property at 70 N. Knoll Road, according to plans submitted to the county earlier this month. The county was expected to determine whether the application was complete by Sept. 3, after The Ark’s press deadline. The applicant has until Dec. 2 to submit any missing information requested by the county or make any changes, after which the county will conduct a 30-day review, with an opportunity for public comment.
