Parks board starts exploring improvements as master plan approval delayed

Updated: 58 minutes ago

The Tiburon Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission is getting a head start on exploring options for a community pool, pickleball courts, kayak launches and other parks improvements, as officials say approval of a final master plan will be delayed by another month.

Public Works Engineering Manager David Eshoo last week said consultant WRT needs more time to polish written portions of the final draft of the plan to guide the long-term use of Tiburon’s 70-acres of parks and open space, including the Richardson Bay Lineal Park system, which spans from Blackie’s Pasture to South of the Knoll Park and encompasses all the Old Rail Trail and adjacent green space.

After some 19 months of planning, surveys, workshops, public hearings and a mission overhaul, the commission is now slated to review the final draft at a special Oct. 24 meeting and forward its recommendations to the Town Council for review and approval sometime in November.
