Reed district test scores show slight dip in math and English

Standardized test scores in the Reed Union School District dropped about four percentage points in English and math this year, though marks overall remained high as local students continue to outpace their peers across the county and state by double digits.

Some 76.2% of Reed district students met or exceeded grade-level standards in English, 74.6% in math, according to the results of the 2024 exam released Oct. 10 by the California Department of Education. That’s down from the 80.1% of students who met or exceeded English standards and the 79.1% who met or exceeded math standards on last year’s exam.

Still, the district’s scores remain markedly higher than the average in Marin, where about 61% of students met or exceeded standards in English, 51.9% in math, and in California, where just 47% of students met or exceeded standards in English, 35.5% in math.
