S.F. man charged with brandishing gun after downtown Tiburon argument
A San Francisco man has been charged with making criminal threats and brandishing a handgun during an early-morning argument Oct. 10 in downtown Tiburon.
The 41-year-old was also charged with carrying a concealed, unregistered firearm and child endangerment, as his 14-year-old daughter was in the car when he allegedly pulled the gun, which authorities say had been reported stolen in Florida. He was being held in Marin County Jail on $50,000 bail and was set to be arraigned in Marin Superior Court Oct. 15, after The Ark’s press deadline.
The incident occurred about 2:20 a.m. Oct. 10 outside of Sam’s Anchor Cafe on Main Street after an argument involving the suspect, the suspect’s girlfriend and another man about deleted texts on the girlfriend’s phone, said Tiburon Police Chief Michelle Jean, who added that all three of those involved worked together for a cleaning company. The suspect then reportedly pulled out the gun and threatened to kill the other man, who called police, Jean said.
A search of the man’s car turned up the loaded handgun under the driver’s seat and a replica AR-15 BB gun in the trunk, police spokesperson Laurie Nilsen said.
The man was arrested, and his child was placed with Children and Family Services, as no relatives were available nearby, Nilsen said.
