Sam’s in Tiburon reopens docks following upgrades for accessibility

Sam’s Anchor Cafe has reopened both of its docks following three weeks of repairs to meet accessibility requirements that had lingered since the restaurant’s 2019 remodel.

The restaurant completed the dock upgrades and received final approval from town officials last week, according to Community Development Director Dina Tasini. The work addressed Americans with Disabilities Act and California Building Code issues that had technically rendered both docks off limits to the public since 2020.

“To be super clear, Sam’s accessibility for all of our patrons is a top priority,” the restaurant stated in social-media posts announcing the reopening on Feb. 19. It reported investing “hundreds of thousands of dollars into the docks and deck,” describing the scope as “well beyond what was required by the town.”
