Sam’s wins OK to open takeout counter next door

Sam’s Anchor Cafe has won Tiburon’s permission to open a fast-casual takeout counter next door, serving food and drinks from the waterfront restaurant’s kitchen.

Tentatively called The Hold, the storefront at 31 Main St. would have no seating and would be allowed to operate between 7 a.m. and midnight, though hours aren’t set yet and the permit will be reviewed after six months. There’s also no estimated opening date, with Main Street Tiburon LLC principal Conor Flaherty saying after the meeting that “we still have work to do in order to figure out the best way to run (it).”

The 694-square-foot space would be split in two, with a front-of-house area for retail and food purchases and takeout. An employee and storage area will be in the back. A rear hallway connects the site to Sam’s, where all cooking and food and drink preparation would take place.
