Tiburon’s India Houghton paired with Eryn Cayetano to capture her third professional doubles title of the year Oct. 13 at the International Tennis Federation World Tennis Tour’s women’s 35K tournament in Bakersfield.

Houghton, 22, is a senior at Stanford University, where she plays on the women’s team. After graduation, she will be pursuing professional tennis full-time.

Unseeded Houghton and Cayetano did not drop a set all week, powering through the No. 3 seed in the quarterfinals (6-3, 6-4) and the No. 2 seed in the championship match (7-6, 6-2).

It was the team’s first time pairing together.

The victory marks Houghton’s third professional title and the first at the 35K level. She started playing professionally this summer, reaching two professional singles titles in Southern California and Sweden. Although she began the summer unranked, Houghton now is at a career high 778 Women’s Tennis Association singles ranking and a top-700 doubles rank.
