Submit your questions for July 27 Tiburon council candidate forum

Tiburon Town Council hopefuls Stefanie Cho and Isaac Nikfar will participate in a candidate forum July 27, and residents will have a chance to ask questions.

The Ark and the League of Women Voters of Marin are co-sponsoring the event, which begins at 7 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall, 1505 Tiburon Blvd.

Cho and Nikfar will face off in an Aug. 29 special election to replace Noah Griffin, who resigned in January for family reasons. The winner will serve the remaining year of his term, through November 2024.

Prior to the forum, residents may submit questions to forum@thearknewspaper.com. During the forum, attendees may also submit questions to the moderator. Questions may be consolidated if they’re similar to others.

League volunteers will serve as moderator and timekeeper. Candidates will make opening and closing statements, but most of the evening will be devoted to a question-and-answer session. The forum is expected to last about an hour and a half to two hours.

The county will begin mailing ballots to all registered voters on July 31, when voting opens at the Elections Department at the Marin Civic Center. In-person voting hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election Day.

Drop boxes at Tiburon Town Hall and at the Marin Civic Center will be available round-the-clock beginning Aug. 1, closing at 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Aug. 14 is the deadline for voter registration. To register to vote or check your status, visit registertovote.ca.gov. California allows same-day registration, so voters can still register after Aug. 14 but will cast provisional ballots.
