Reed Union School District teachers are seeking to boost their salaries by 23% over the next two years, building on a double-digit raise they’ve received since 2023. They say the new increase is necessary to keep pace with the high cost of living in Marin, where the salary of a first-year district teacher is still considered low income for a single-person household.

The Reed District Teachers Association is asking for a 10% raise in the 2025-2026 school year and a 12% raise the following year for all certificated teachers.

The district has countered with a 2.5% increase in each of the next two years. It’s also proposing a change to its salary schedule, which allows teachers to earn automatic annual increases based on their experience, education and professional development.
