Tiburon artist to show paper collages at Town Hall exhibit

Tiburon artist Marta Wendlinger’s ‘Action,’ is part of her exhibit of 19 paper collages at the Belvedere-Tiburon Library Sept. 3-Oct. 26.

Tiburon artist Marta Wendlinger will exhibit 19 of her paper collages in “If Animals Could Talk,” opening Sept. 3 in Town Hall’s upstairs gallery.

The show runs through Oct. 26 and will have a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on opening day and another from 1-3 p.m. on closing day.

Wendlinger, 60, only uses National Geographic magazines for her art because of its high-quality paper and colorful images. Although they are not exactly 3D, the torn pieces of paper heat up during the day and cool off at night, so they end up being crinkled instead of lying completely flat.

“For me, each creation is a journey of mindfulness, a chance to savor the present moment and immerse myself in the artistic process,” Wendlinger says. “The paper speaks to me as I work.”
