Tiburon arts board OKs dance performance, film screening

Updated: Aug 1

Tiburon will bring a performance from Sausalito-based Danse Lumière to Zelinsky Park this fall, followed by a screening at Town Hall of a film about women in dance, as part of its ongoing public-art initiative.

The Heritage and Arts Commission voted 4-0 July 23 to approve spending $1,000 on the program; Vice Chair Arjun Gupta and Commissioner Azita Mujica-Beavers were absent, and the board has one vacancy. A date for the event was not identified.

Kathryn Roszak, the artistic director of Danse Lumière, in March proposed a screening of “Women at the Top,” which explores women in leadership positions in ballet and contemporary dance. Roszak produced the film and pitched a question-and-answer session to follow the screening. While the commission was supportive of the idea, board members said they wanted a live performance incorporated into the proposal.
