Tiburon board offers early update on ideas for parks improvements

Tiburon’s parks board is exploring options for indoor pickleball, a downtown launch for kayaks and paddleboards, shaded picnic areas and increased neighborhood park maintenance as it looks to begin implementing some of the goals of the town’s recently approved parks, recreation and open space master plan.

The Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission at its Dec. 16 meeting shared early ideas out of five subcommittees the board formed late last year to get a head start on researching some of the proposed improvements detailed in the master plan, which was approved by the council in November to guide the long-term use of Tiburon’s 56 acres of parks and 316 acres of open space, including the Richardson Bay Lineal Park system, which spans from Blackie’s Pasture to South of the Knoll Park and encompasses all the Old Rail Trail and adjacent green space.

Any specific improvement or amenity proposed would need to be individually reviewed by the parks commission and recommended to the Town Council for approval.
