Tiburon council backs draft guide for parks system

Tiburon councilmembers have thrown their support behind the latest draft of a townwide parks master plan, which splits parks and open space into six zones and allows for a mix-and-match approach for potential amenities that range from an amphitheater and sports courts to playgrounds, pathways and a pool.

Councilmembers reviewed the revised plan from San Francisco-based WRT at their Aug. 21 meeting. It was the first feedback session with the council since March, when board members asked WRT to reorganize the document to avoid recommending specific uses at specific parks, instead requesting the generalized zones that show what active and passive activities can go where.

The report will now be reviewed by the Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission in September and then head back to the council for final vote and potential approval in October.
