Tiburon fire district to use church lot during remodel of Paradise Drive firehouse

The Tiburon Fire Protection District will operate a temporary station out of the parking lot of the Tiburon Baptist Church while it remodels its Paradise Drive firehouse.

The district has received a temporary use permit from the town to set up modular living quarters for three to four staff and to park a fire engine and ambulance in the lot, located at 445 Greenwood Beach Road. Assistant Fire Chief Tommy Hellyer said the district doesn’t know when it will begin operating there, as they have not yet identified a start date for construction on Station 10. Once underway, the remodel is expected to last about 18 months.

Hellyer said the district considered several other locations for the temporary station, including Blackie’s Pasture and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, which is a few doors down from Station 10, but the logistical challenges of providing utilities to the living quarters were too great at those sites.
