Tiburon names three new faces to diversity, parks and design boards

Writer: Francisco MartinezFrancisco Martinez

A parent with a history of advocating for accessibility has been appointed to Tiburon’s Diversity Inclusion Task Force, one of three new faces named to town boards this month.

The Town Council voted 4-0, with Vice Mayor Jon Welner absent, at its March 5 meeting to appoint Lina Godfrey to the task force, Mike Ghaffary to the Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission and Phoebe Holscher to the Design Review Board.

Godfrey takes over one of two vacant citizen seats on the task force after Karen Carrera and Ruben Kalra, the only Belvedere member of the board, decided not to reapply.

Ghaffary fills a parks board seat that has been vacant since December, when Angela McInerney stepped down. He was appointed over three other applicants for the seat.

Holscher’s appointment was the rare ousting of an incumbent seeking reappointment. The council chose her over Jim Malott, who has served since 2021.
