Tiburon OKs Little League block party on lower Main Street to kick off year’s festivals
Tiburon Peninsula Little League will once again celebrate the start of its season with a parade and block party on lower Main Street. It’s set to be the first of this year’s six closures for street festivals — though that number could increase.
The event, approved by the Town Council Feb. 5, will close lower Main from 4 to 9 p.m. March 14. The festivities start at 4:30 p.m., with the league’s players and families gathering at the Lyford Drive parking lot and marching down the sidewalk from Tiburon Boulevard to Main Street.
The party will run 5-8 p.m. and include pitching and carnival games for kids, a merchandise station selling league-branded gear, a silent auction and a beer-and-wine tent, with Little League President Mark Marsella telling councilmembers that, like last year, alcohol sales would be limited to an age-restricted area and not overlap with youth activities.
Food will be available at local restaurants, but, unlike last year, there will be no live music.
