Tiburon parks committee looks to reprioritize club soccer at McKegney

Tiburon parks officials want to give the local youth soccer club more time on McKegney Green, saying it appears too much has been ceded to lacrosse — the latest turn in a years-long dispute between the clubs over shared access to the athletic field.


Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission Vice Chair Michael Moon, a member of the subcommittee examining the McKegney field-use policy, says the Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club has historically gotten about 75% of the total field time, which dropped to about two-thirds over spring and fall. But for now, Moon said, all the recommended changes are still being deliberated.



“We plan to meet with soccer and lacrosse again before the January meeting to discuss where our current thinking is at,” he said.
