More than a dozen budding journalists from the Tiburon Peninsula helped Redwood High School’s student newspaper earn standout recognition at the recent National High School Journalism Convention in Philadelphia.

The Bark earned 10th place in the “best of show” category among schools of its size at the convention, which brought about 5,000 student journalists from high schools across the nation together Nov. 7-10. The annual event is hosted by the National Scholastic Press Association and the Journalism Education Association.

Fifteen Tiburon Peninsula teens are on the 90-student staff of the Bark, including Matthew Knauer, one of three editors-in-chief.

Other staffers include news editor Morgan Sicklick; feature editor Nick Hartung; lifestyles editor Paige Catanese; opinion editors Petra Novotny and Brooklyn Saputo; video editor Anya Ghazi; business manager Lucy Jeffers; head copy editor Nadia Massoumi; copy editors Jamie Glennon and Vivienne Endler; and reporters Adela Tabak, Matthew Milan, Gabrielle Franklin and Mariel Goodhart.
