Tiburon resident’s family business brings Texas barbecue to peninsula

For Tiburon resident Brette Daniels, barbecue runs in the family.

His grandfather and father were both grill masters, he says, using a low-and-slow cooking method to smoke meats for eight to 10 hours over freshly cut pecan, cherrywood and hickory wood.

Now, Daniels, 57, is continuing the family tradition with 2 Bros Barbeque, the catering business he runs with his son, Brette Jr., and his brother Barry Alexander. Mom’s involved, too: The meat is smoked at her house in San Pablo, and one of their dessert offerings is her special 7-Up cake.

They prepare the sides and desserts at North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church, where Alexander runs a weekly barbecue pop-up, while Daniels and his son deliver to clients across Marin and the East Bay.
