Tiburon’s Adam Sicklick helped lead his Marin Rowing under-17 8-plus boat to gold in the US Rowing Youth National Championships June 6-9 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. The team was undefeated in 2024.

The team had been third in time trials, with a 5 minute, 58.76 second run, nearly three seconds off leader RowAmerica of Connecticut. In their semifinal heat, they finished second, just 0.43 seconds behind Saugatuck, also of Connecticut. That was enough to earn them a spot in the eight-boat final, where they crushed RowAmerica by over 5.5 seconds and Saugatuck by nearly seven.

Meanwhile, locals Teo Tanaka and Theo Chendo took second place in the under-16 8-plus boat.

They won the time trial by 0.07 seconds to advance to the semifinals, where they won their heat, beating Sarasota by nearly 3 seconds. But the other heat winner, RowAmerica, was too strong in the final, winning by just under 2 seconds.
