Tiburon student graduates from Redwood, College of Marin in three-week span

Tiburon teen Peter Dachtler says he’s looking forward to having time where he’s not going “pedal to the metal.”

For the past three summers, and every semester while attending Redwood High School, Dachtler took at least one community college class, “usually two,” he says, offered by College of Marin, Orange County-based Coastline Community College, Foothill College in Los Altos Hills and its district counterpart, De Anza College in Cupertino.

As a result, the 18-year-old has graduated twice in three weeks: He earned his associate’s degree in arts and natural sciences from the College of Marin on May 24 and followed that up by walking across the stage to receive his Redwood High School diploma June 13.

He’s now enjoying the fruits of his labor before he heads off to the University of California at Los Angeles in the fall, where he says he plans to major in environmental studies and economics.
