Tiburon wants to fast-track some simpler parks projects

Writer: Francisco MartinezFrancisco Martinez

Just a few months after approving the town’s long-term plan for its parks and open spaces, the Town Council is instructing staff to get moving on implementing a slew of simpler projects, including upgrading the play structure at Cypress Hollow Park and adding new signage and trailheads throughout the recreation system.

However, officials say they want to take more time to consider some of the bigger suggestions laid out in the plan, including the best use of the former sanitation ponds near McKegney Green.

Among the other directives to staff from the Town Council at its March 20 meeting were to start examining the feasibility of an accessible playground at Zelinsky Park, which sits behind the Belvedere-Tiburon Library and Tiburon Town Hall; to find a launch spot for stand-up paddleboards and kayaks; and to look into adding permanent signage on the Old Rail Trail regarding safety and speeding.
