Town’s Persian New Year fest coming April 19 on lower Main

Tiburon will celebrate the Persian New Year April 19 with a live DJ set, dance performances and authentic cuisine on lower Main Street.

The third annual Persian Spring Festival, sponsored by Tiburon’s Diversity Inclusion Task Force, to mark the start of the Persian new year, also known as Nowruz, will run 3-5 p.m., though the street will be closed to car traffic 2-9 p.m. to accommodate set up and take down.

Entertainment on tap for the free event includes San Ramon-based Sardar Mianaby, known as DJ Mian, who spins a mix of Persian music with throwback and contemporary hits as well as Ballet Afsaneh out of Woodacre performing both Persian and Afghan dance routines.

The event will also feature Persian food vendors including Jasmine Market in San Rafael, Jaleh Bakery in Lafayette, Gol Ice Cream in San Ramon and Orchid Persian Catering, which will be offering both sweets and small bites.
