Visitors get hands-on with bay research at Tiburon marine center’s open house

Hundreds of Bay Area science enthusiasts got a chance to explore the sights, sounds and slimy feel of life under the ocean at the Estuary and Ocean Science Center’s 32nd annual open house.

 

San Francisco State University’s marine biology lab opened its doors to the public Oct. 13 at the Tiburon Romberg campus on Paradise Drive.

 

“We do love having people come and see what we do,” said Anne Slaughter, a senior research associate, as she welcomed visitors to the center.

 

Sixteen head scientists, their research technicians, students and volunteers from the center and onsite partners like the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve greeted visitors and answered questions.
