Tiburon council votes to ban drones over schools, town events


Drones will be banned from flying within 400 feet of Tiburon’s three public schools and town-permitted public events under new regulations set to be enacted by the Town Council. The council voted unanimously at its June 19 meeting to approve a new ordinance prohibiting the unmanned aircraft from flying over Reed Union School District schools during regular school hours and after-hours school-sponsored events without written permission from school officials. Drone operators will also need authorization from the town of Tiburon to fly the aircraft over publicly permitted events.
